Zero Carbon Housing Baden II (2022)

Group 08: Nina Bichsel, Monika Brtan and Sofija Ljumovic

The A/S teaching team is partnering with the Swiss architecture office JOM and Regionalwerke Baden (RWB) for the IDP 2022. During the program, students will work in groups of two on an upcoming building project in Baden, owned by RWB, for which JOM won the competition. The project features a multi-story residential building hosting 43 households and will showcase CO2-neutral architecture in line with the Swiss Energy Strategy 2050. The project focuses on constructing a CO2-neutral building by carefully choosing energy supply systems and construction materials.

In the initial stages of the project, students will analyze the climate, topography, and context of the area, as well as the resources and renewable energy potential of the site context. This will give students a comprehensive overview of the study area's challenges, constraints, and opportunities. Following this analysis, the groups will develop a range of integrated design scenarios before focusing on one or more strategies to develop in further detail.

The ultimate objective of the IDP 2022 is for students to cultivate synergies and designs that enhance energy efficiency, minimize CO2 emissions, and promote sustainability in a residential building in Baden.
