Workshop "Earth Building in Practice" on Hybrid Timber-Earth Construction
Registration is now open. From 7–11 September 2026, practice, research, and material knowledge come together to advance resource-efficient construction. Together, participants develop and realise experimental hybrid timber-earth constructions.
Participants will develop and realise experimental hybrid timber-earth constructions. The workshop focuses on practical applications, material-conscious construction, and the exploration of innovative construction methods using earth, timber and reused resources.
Combining current research with hands-on implementation, the workshop offers in-depth insights into sustainable hybrid construction, precision in material use, and the relationship between construction, material behaviour and circularity.
Together with experts, students and industry partners, participants will explore and further develop new approaches to resource-efficient construction. Expert contributions from research and practice complement the programme.
Organisation
FANGAN Architekten in cooperation with Think Earth – Regenerative Construction, the Chair of Architecture and Building Systems (A/S), ETH Zurich, the Institute of Civil Engineering – Technology & Architecture at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and further partners.
