Architecture Masterprize Award 2021: React Budapest - A Wind and Water Network for Cooling the City. Student / Green architecture category

The master’s thesis reacts to the existing architectural heritage as well as the increasingly changing climate in Budapest downtown. One of the main tools of the interventions is making ‘cuts’ into the existing urban fabric, which connect the ‘negative spaces’ of the city and make space for further punctual interventions. Together they enable a wind and water network, which cool down the whole downtown through evaporative cooling and create new semipublic spaces for the residents. The cuts also unfold the typological values of these old houses and give the opportunity for a re-identification.
